August 27 - Right Before God

By Debbie Russell

Today's Scripture: Proverbs 22:5

Central Thought: God is a wonderful God who is just and fair in His dealings with man.

Though salvation is a gift of God that we cannot earn through works, we are responsible to guard our soul and keep away from snares that may hinder our relationship with God. We are to keep our hearts and lives open to God and pliable in His hands.

Psalms 37:4 instructs us to delight ourselves in God, to be pliable in His hands so He can make and mold us into what He desires. Before we can delight in God, we must get to know Him through His Word and prayer. It is through His Word and the leading of His Spirit that we know the correct paths to take and the right way to conduct ourselves. This is also how we avoid the snares of the enemy and the snares of our own flesh.

As we delight ourselves in Him, we are protected from the just judgment of God. His will and our desires will become one and the same.

Devotional Prayer: Lord help me to keep my heart open to You at all times, that I may live my life in accordance with Your will.
