What Happens When A Baby Comes?

At the "Roaring Mine Camp" in northern California during the gold-rush days of the late 1800s, the only woman in this particular camp, a woman of questionable reputation, had died. Then, some of those rough, touch, gruff, miners...a rowdy bunch if there ever was one, discovered she had left behind a baby. They discovered the crying baby lying in a plain box. They looked at that box and decided that this was no bed fit for the baby to be sleeping in. What did they do? They sent a man by mule to Sacramento, California to get a rosewood cradle. When he got back, they put the baby in the cradle and said, "You know what? That baby doesn't look good in those ragged, dirty bedclothes. Get back on that mule and go back to Sacramento to get some proper blankets for the baby."

They moved the rosewood cradle, the baby in clean blankets into another bedroom and looked at the walls that didn't look too good, either. They said, "Let's clean up these walls with new paint." And when they finished, now let's fix the windows because it gets cold in here at night. Let's put some curtains on the windows."

The baby needed some quiet-time and a nap so the rowdy, loud, language stopped because the baby need rest. On a nice day, they took the baby to the mine entrance. They noticed how bad it looked so they cleaned the mess up and even planted some flowers so it would look nice for the baby. They walked the baby downtown, there was trash they cleaned it up for the baby to have a better environment.

EVERYTHING WAS CHANGED BY THE PRESENCE OF THE BABY! That baby who came to change everything was Jesus Christ at Christmas. Has this baby changed everything in your life?

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life" (I John 5:11-12).
