March 11 - Living With The Consequences

Living With The Consequences

Eighteen-year-old Kyle Todd was shot and killed in the living room of his mother's home in Pascagoula, Mississippi in the U.S.A. Why: Todd was a freshman at Louisiana State University and had come home for the weekend so he could study in peace and quiet because of the noise and partying of a Saturday LSU and Tennessee University football game.

At about 1:00 am on that Saturday night, a bullet smashed through a picture window striking 'Todd in the chest...he was killed instantly.

The gunman, Joseph Goff, was apprehended, arrested and charged with murder. During his trial, Joseph managed to plea-bargain his charge to "man-slaughter." The judge then sentenced him to the maximum term of twenty years in prison.

The sentencing judge also added another punishment: Goff must always have an 8 X 10 picture of his innocent victim hanging in his cell 24/7. Every day, in his prison cell, Goff was to be reminded of the life he had taken and reminded of how the actions of his life had led to his spending at least twenty years of his life behind bars. You and I are free to make any kind of life choices we want. What we cannot chose will be the consequences that always follow the choices we make. Yes, we can be forgiven for our sins and you are right about this. However, never forget God may not choose to reverse the impact of these consequences in our lives. Whatever kinds of seeds we sow will eventually grow until there is a harvest. But remember that we will always harvest more than the seed we planted. HOW ABOUT GIVING SOME SERIOUS THOUGHT TO THE DECISIONS YOU ARE MAKING...TODAY?!

"Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction, the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life" (Galatians 6:7-8)!
