The Lord is calling you to Revival!
IIt is my delightful joy to continue preaching to you this series of messages about Revival.
The title of my message today is, "The Lord is calling you to Revival!"
My scripture reading is from Luke 5:27-28, and it says, "After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. "Follow me," Jesus said to him, and Levi got up, left everything and followed him."
My friends, the Lord wants you…He wants you to be saved and living a life that seeks Him everyday. Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus provided a way that you may be saved. In conjunction with that, it is His desire for you to remain in a lifestyle of REVIVAL! It was during a Revival that I felt those powerful words from Jesus, as well, saying: "FOLLOW ME!!" It was at a REVIVAL where Jesus saved me, filled me with the Holy Spirit, and called me to preach the gospel to all the world. REVIVAL…it will change your life! In our text, we see Jesus going into a tax collector’s office to see a man named Levi.
It was Levi’s job to collect taxes. And for this reason he was despised by many. But, Jesus saw something in Levi that no one else saw. Jesus saw a hungry heart in Levi and a person of great potential. Jesus simple said to him, "Follow Me!" And we read that Levi got up, sold all that he had, and left to ‘Follow Jesus." That is exactly what I did…I left all, sold all, and "Followed Him" because of REVIVAL! And my friends, if you will listen really closely, you will be able to hear Jesus calling you…calling you to REVIVAL!!
THE LORD IS CALLING AND WANTS YOU IN REVIVAL!!
It is God’s desire for all to be full of the power of God and experiencing revival. In Acts chapter 1 verse 4, we read that Jesus told all the disciples to go and wait for the promise of the Father. And then in Acts chapter 2 verse 4, we see that they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and the power of God. After they were filled with the Spirit, they spread God’s Word everywhere. This is the soul purpose for all born-again Christians, to spread the Word of God to a lost and dying world. Luke 15:7 says, "There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents…" The greatest desire for Christ is for souls to be saved. THIS IS THE MAIN REASON FOR REVIVALS..TO REACH THE LOST AND THE SALVATION OF SOULS.
THE LORD IS CALLING AND WANTS YOU TO BRING OTHERS TO REVIVAL!!
The first desire of a new Christian should be the desire to bring others to Christ. Can you remember that exciting feeling when you received Jesus as the Lord of your life? You wanted to tell everyone…you were so happy. OTHERS in this world need that same feeling in their life…they need Jesus as Lord. The greatest joy on earth comes to a Christian when he is used to win someone for Christ. I remember when I led my first convert to Christ…I was so happy. And listen, when you teach that Sunday School class or teach a lesson…there may just be the next great pastor, missionary, or evangelist in that class. And, that one could turn their region upside down for Christ.
THE LORD IS CALLING AND WANTS YOU AS A BUILDER OF HIS REVIVAL!!
The church is civilization’s greatest asset. There is no organization or institution which has meant as much to the world as the church. Jesus said in Mt 16:18, "I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." The church is the greatest blessing to the individual. Did you ever stop to think of what the church has meant to your life? The spiritual victory that you received at church…the joy…the strength…the blessings! You find comfort in a time of sorrow from the church. We owe the Lord and the church our loyalty and love.
THE LORD IS CALLING AND WANTS YOU AS A LIVING WITNESS FOR REVIVAL!!
The Lord wants you to live in such a way that others can see Jesus in you. May God help us to be so filled with the fullness of Christ and overflowing with the power of the Holy Spirit that we will influence everyone around us. PEOPLE NEED THE LORD! Have many people will you tell about Jesus and His saving grace so that they can understand the blessings of God and revival? And, how will you tell them? To many are living off of scraps rather than the great blessings of God
The late D.L. Moody told the story of a man that always fed his dog the crumbs and scraps from the table. The dog would sit and watch them eat, with all patience, waiting for the meal to be over. Then after the meal they would collect all the scraps, go outside the kitchen and the dog would have his meal. One day they had company and were talking about the dog having scraps. One suggested they offer the dog a steak. So they prepared for him a plate with a nice, well done sizzling steak. The visitor said, "I don’t think your dog will eat the steak." The owner said, "Surely he will; he will be glad to get it after having nothing but scraps." They put the plate in front of the dog; the dog looked at it, looked at his master, and then turned around and walked away from the steak. The dog had lived on scraps until he could not even believe there was such thing as a steak and how good it tasted.
I believe it is possible that we too can become satisfied with spiritual scraps. God will feed us according to the way we take it. If we have been used to scraps and we live on scraps and have developed an appetite for scraps, then that’s exactly what we'll get. Our prayer should be to have some fresh manna each and everyday AND REVIVAL!
LET US PRAY:
Father, I pray for everyone listening to this message today. I pray that You would forgive them of their sins and that they would live for You. I ask this for personal revival in their life in Jesus name, Amen.
I close by saying this; I encourage you to accept Jesus as the Lord of you life today and live for Him. God Bless!
