Ray Kroc, who is the founder of "McDonald's" is also the story of one man who had a dream and never gave up on it! But he didn't really hit his stride and become a success until he was 52 years old. He began his colorful career by selling paper cups for seventeen years. Then he gave it up.
He started over again...this time he began selling milk shake machines. He had heard about the McDonald brothers in San Bernardino who had this drive-in fast food restaurant. They were so successful that they were turning out forty milk-shakes at a time on eight of his multi-mixer machines. He was curious about how his best customer was doing this kind of business. After looking at the operation, he asked the McDonald brothers, "Why don't you open other restaurants just like this one?"
They replied, "It would be a lot of trouble," and they continued, they "didn't know who they'd get to open them."
Ray Kroc replied that "he had such a person in mind."
"Who," they asked, "would that be?"
Kroc replied, "Me!" And he bought them out and began this new business at age 52! He took the McDonald concept and built it into a BILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS in twenty-two years!
This is no easy accomplishment...it took IBM 46 years and XEROX 63 years to reach this billion dollar level in sales revenue!
How did Ray Kroc do it? He said, "The key is perseverance and paying your dues!"
So my teen friend...do you have a dream for your life? If you have a dream...what are you willing to do to make it a reality?
"Blessed is the person who perseveres under trial, because when they have stood the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him" (James 1:12).
