Anthony Marchese works for "Digital Color, Inc." as a salesman. He lives in Wisconsin and is used to driving in all kinds of weather, good and bad. Snowstorms in the winter...rainstorms in the summer. But if you live and work in Wisconsin, it's part of your life.
What is not normal...being struck by lightning! This story was carried in the "Milwaukee Journal Sentinel." Marchese was on his way to make a sales call on a client when his car was hit by lightning! The rear window was blown out, both rear tires were burned up and the car horn would not stop honking! AND...the car stopped dead!
Later it was determined that the lightning strike had entered by way of the rear car antenna which was destroyed and exited by way of the rear tires. Also, there was left a pair of six inch deep holes where the tires had touched the road. Marchese was noticeably shaken...but was not hurt. His boss came to his rescue so he could make the sales call and return to work for the rest of the day.
A Second Chance
Have you ever had a "SECOND CHANCE" in life? If so, how did you feel after your experience? For sure, Marchese had this second chance...even getting a real break. A break like this could be called "God's mercy" or even "God's grace" in action. Did Marchese express thanks for his escape? We don't know. But what about you? Have you been grateful at a second chance opportunity?
Or let's take it another step...have you ever offered a "second chance" to somebody who may not have deserved it?
"But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with 'Christ even when we were dead in transgressions...it is by grace you have been saved" (Ephesians 2:4-5).
