Steve and Sonya Martin are Wycliffe Associates. When Steve was facing a difficult decision, requiring a leap of faith, Sonya said to him,
“What is it about God you can’t trust?” Later, she related the additional thought, “Why not say ‘yes,’ and give God the opportunity!”
In Deuteronomy 31:8, Moses was reassuring Joshua, as he was becoming the new leader of Israel. He tells him four things:
- “The Lord, He is the One who goes before you,” to prepare your way, direct and guide you.
- “He will be with you,” always by your side, assisting in every challenge.
- “He will not leave you, nor forsake you,” because no matter how difficult things may appear, He will never disappoint you.
- “Do not fear, nor be dismayed,” because without Him you can do nothing, and the excellence of the power will be shown to be of Him, and not of man.
Grandma read aloud from Genesis to her little granddaughter.
After she had finished, the child seemed lost in thought.
“Well, dear, what do you think of it?” Grandma asked.
“Oh, I just love it,” the child replied. “You never know what God is going to do next!”
“It is not what we think – it is what our Creator knows” (Louise M. Hobson).
