December 25 - Revelation 19:1-10

Fire Bible Student Edition - Fire Starter

READ: Revelation 19:1-10

THINK: Think about how exciting it is to get a special invitation. When you were younger, this may have been an even bigger deal. Then again, you may recall a time when you felt severely let down or excluded because you weren't invited to something. Perhaps you've even wondered what it would be like to be invited to a particular event or celebration. As a follower of Jesus, you can do more than wonder; you can anticipate the day when you'll take part in the greatest and most spectacular celebration ever--when Jesus is united with the love of His life: His church. If you love Jesus and remain true to Him, your invitation is already validated and your reservation confirmed.

RESPOND: In what way does chapter 19 represent both an ending and a beginning? (See 19:1 first note.) What does "Hallelujah" mean? (See 19:1 second note.) What are some specific reasons why those in heaven praise God so intensely in this passage (vv. 1-7)? Who is "the great prostitute" and how has she treated God's people? (See 17:1 second note.) What does it mean that "the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready"? (See 19:7 note.) Who is "the bride" and where is she at the time described in this passage? What does this imply regarding the sequence of end-time events, particularly in regard to Christ's faithful followers in the church? (See 19:7 note.) What does "fine linen" represent (v. 8)? What is "the wedding supper of the Lamb" (v. 9), when does it take place and who is invited? (See 19:9 note.) What is the true "spirit of prophecy" (v. 20) and how does it relate to the message of Jesus? (See 19:10 note.) What functions can godly prophecy serve and what is its ultimate purpose?

PRAY: Spend extra time praising God for His goodness, right judgments and ultimate reward for His people. Pray for a greater devotion to godly purity and purpose in your life. Thank Jesus for the invitation to His marriage supper.

ACT: Make sure that every way in which you use your voice or communicate today is pleasing to Jesus and demonstrates His character and purpose. Review the chart of The Last Days of History, p. 1902, keeping in mind that the events and descriptions are not listed in strict sequential order, but may be concurrent or overlapping.
