Today's Scripture: Psalm 105:37-45
Central Thought: God kept his promise to Abraham by providing for Israel.
Israel prospered even in the captivity of Egypt because of God's promise to Abraham. The Israelites grew to over a million people and evidently had enough animals to spread the blood that was required to keep away the death angel during the last plague.
God not only provided escape from Egypt but He also sustained the Israelites in the desert. They asked if God had brought them to the desert to die. In spite of their lack of belief God was faithful to his promise to Abraham and provided for their every need.
Abraham did not see the fulfillment of God's promise in his lifetime, just as we have not yet seen it even today. We become concerned when God does not answer our prayers on our timeline, but the Bible is a record of God's faithfulness to keep His promises on His timeline. What He has promised, He will provide.
Devotional Prayer: God, help me to obey Your Word that I might be worthy to receive your promises.
