October 30 - God Answers Prayer

By Barbara Lighthizer

Today's Scripture: Lamentations 2:20–3:66

Central Thought: God hears our prayers and is able to answer them according to His Word.

When you faced a difficult trial, did you wonder if God heard your prayer? Did you ask why God allowed this trial and why it happened at this time? Or did you ask the ultimate question we allow ourselves to think: "Does God even care?"

God has laid out the answers to our questions in His Word and only asks that we be diligent in seeking those answers. When we reach a point of feeling total annihilation and utter despair, those who have gone before us can encourage us. They found hope in recalling these things.

God has a great love for us. Through His mercy we are tested, but we are not defeated or devoured. When we call on God, He comes closer to comfort us. He tells us not to fear the things of this world but to trust in Him. He has heard us, and in His perfect time He answers each prayer.

Devotional Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to trust Your Word and believe that You will answer my prayer in Your time and in Your way.
