Today's Scripture: Isaiah 53:12
Central Thought: We need to remember the incredible sacrifice Christ paid for our sins.
Critics jeered and many audiences cried when they viewed The Passion of the Christ.
No other movie had so graphically captured the depths of suffering that Christ endured for the sins of humanity. Many people turned to Christ after viewing this film, and many who had drifted away from Him turned back after realizing the high price paid for their salvation.
Christ's suffering and death was not a Hollywood event—it was a profound and eternal sacrifice. Isaiah 53, written several hundred years before Christ came, vividly describes the suffering that Jesus would endure. As we read these details, we need to notice the reason for His death, which is found in verse 6: 'We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6, NIV).
It is sobering to realize that our sins required the sacrifice that only Christ could make. The more we realize the incredible love that motivated Christ to make this awesome sacrifice, the more determined we can become to live for Him faithfully.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, help me to live so that I may show my thankfulness for Your great love for me.
