Today's Scripture: Ephesians 4:14-16
Central Thought: God wants us to be stable in our faith.
Tornadoes leave a huge path of destruction in their wake. Shattered lives, destroyed homes, and devastated communities attest to their incredibly destructive power. The sheer force of such storms can also be seen in the incredible distances objects can be thrown. Some survivors have been flung great distances after being swept up into the twisters. They know what it means to be tossed about in a mighty wind.
Sometimes, people can be carried great distances by the 'winds” of false teaching. These teachings may seem innocent enough at the beginning, but they often leave a destructive path of broken hearts and devastated lives. Victims of these teachings may have thought they were learning some great revelation of God's doctrine, only to find that they had placed their trust in destructive doctrines that led them away from God.
We need to make spiritual maturity a prime goal for our lives. As we base our lives on God's Word, we gain the stability we need to resist these false teachings. Then when the storms of false doctrine come along, we will have a solid foundation on which to stand.
Devotional Prayer: Help me to be strong in Your Word so I can stand for You.
