Today's Sripture: Psalm 57:2
Central Thought: God's purpose is fulfilled even when disappointment strikes.
The weather was sunny and the snow fluffy, making the day perfect for snowboarding. It was April Fools' Day, but that did not deter Joe from proposing to Jannah from on top of the snowcapped mountain in Colorado. The indescribable view made the moment one the two would remember for a lifetime. The day was immaculate.
Only twelve days later, the diamond ring Joe had worked to buy for Jannah was stolen. The woman responsible vanished without a trace, and the police gave Jannah and Joe the bad news. They had no case. There was no evidence that could ever bring the ring back.
While the ring never was found, today Jannah has a beautiful ring in its place. Joe and Jannah's faith allowed them to laugh through the immense disappointment. Joe said, 'I just know God will take care of everything—we are meant to be together. God holds our lives in His hand.”
Unfortunately for fallen humanity, we are doomed to many disappointing circumstances in life. I'm sure Jannah and Joe will even face more trials in their lives. The good news is that we serve a God who is concerned about our lives and fulfilling His good purpose.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, thank You for being concerned with our lives and for completing Your good purpose. Help us to have the faith to trust You, even in disappointment.
