Today's Scripture: Psalm 56:4, 13
Central Thought: The Lord protects and keeps me even amidst trouble.
A soft tapping on the door jerked my attention away from studying my chemistry notes. My father entered the room, and then a man with a dark, empty face. The face had deeply etched tribal markings, scarring the skin below his cheek. The stranger held a gun. My father's voice was deep and gentle. 'We are being robbed at gunpoint. Don't be afraid. Everything will be okay.”
Today I look back and realize the most dramatic thing in the room was not the danger, but my dad's gentle voice. His was the voice that had sung me to sleep as a baby, and his face was the one that had reassured me after a fall. At the time, even though common sense told me to be afraid, I knew we would be okay.
God is our Father. His voice is the one that guides us, and His face the one that reassures us in our darkest moment. God's love is as vast as an ocean, and His protection will forever remain an unbreakable promise. We can trust in God in the same way we can trust a parent as a child. Whatever trouble you are faced with, the Lord will deliver you. In Him we can trust and 'not be afraid.”
Devotional Prayer: Lord help us to trust in You in our darkest hour. Thank You for being with us.
