Today's Scripture: Esther 4:12-14
Central Thought: We should trust God's timing for our lives.
God's timing is flawless. In today's reading, Mordecai made sure that Esther understood the responsibilities she had for rescuing her people from a cruel edict. As part of his motivational speech, Mordecai pondered that perhaps Esther was placed in her position of influence at that time for the very purpose of rescuing her people. Being a captive in the harem of a pagan king was far from pleasant, but Esther was challenged to consider God's purposes.
God's timing in our lives is also flawless. Sometimes we may think that our lives are totally out of control—that there could not possibly be any purpose to the things we are facing. If we are not careful, we can miss God's plan to use the very things we do not like to fulfill His purposes for our lives. Good experiences, bad experiences, and even routine experiences can bring eternal blessings when we let God work through them. The quick conversation we have with a waitress or cashier may just be what that person needs to realize God loves him or her. Let us be open to the opportunities God gives us in His perfect timing.
Devotional Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for directing my life. You are in charge of everything that happens in my life.
