Today's Scripture: Psalm 31:8b
Central Thought: When you are in a tunnel, look for the sunshine at the end.
'Not every day is good” (African proverb). Some journeys are not good either, whether they be physical journeys or emotional ones.
We all want to live happy lives. Sometimes life's journey takes us to a standstill in a dark tunnel. We need to remember that journeys and tunnels are for going through, not for residing in.
To Ezra, in his physical journey from Babylon to Jerusalem, and to David, in his emotional and spiritual journey with its ups and downs, the days likely seemed unending. Ezra finally arrived in Jerusalem after a four-month physical journey. While David spoke to the Lord of traps that had been laid for him—of affliction and anguish in his spirit—he was able to say, '. . . you have set my feet in spacious places.” He had arrived home in his spiritual journey.
God has His plan for your journey too. It may seem that you are stalled in a dark place, but He will bring you home—home to your good destination, a place of happiness and peace.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, bring me to Your sunny place, and give me patience for the journey taking me there.
