Central Thought: Everyone is sent with a specific purpose in mind—sharing the message of salvation.
I remember being sent on errands by my mother. I would be sent next door with a container and a note requesting a certain amount of sugar for a recipe. I would be sent on my bicycle a mile a way to get a package. When I acquired a driver's license, I was sent all over creation on errands and began to wonder why I thought it would be so neat to drive! In each case, I had a purpose to accomplish and an agenda that I had to follow. It defined me for those moments or hours that it took to get it done.
The apostle Paul sketches out the process of God's agenda for us and makes it very clear. People need to call upon God for salvation but cannot call if they do not know of Him. They cannot know about Him if they are not informed. They cannot be informed unless someone tells them. And they cannot go and share the good news to others if they are not sent with that purpose. Every believer is sent into his or her world with that purpose. It is now simply a matter of fulfilling it.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, You have been sent to this world and, in turn, have sent me to mine with the purpose of speaking of Your great news of salvation. Help me to be faithful to my purpose!
