Central Thought: Minding the Spirit matters!
Many athletes, performers, and competitors know that there is a psychological side to their performance. They spend time with counselors and motivators to help them deal with the things that are going on inside the thoughts and beliefs that influence their performance. This is often expressed in the terms of 'mind over matter.” This concept is not limited to competition but touches upon business and relationships as well. Some religious systems have gone so far as to label themselves as a 'mind science.”
Our Christian walk is arguably a matter of mindset but not one that is natural or drawing upon human ability. There is an often-overlooked crucial ingredient—minding the things of the Spirit. When the human mind is thrown open to the truth of the Word of God, a spiritual transaction occurs. The mind is changed from one that is bent upon its own self-centered destiny to one that is able to see God's plan and purpose. Repentance then works in the heart to bring about a change of plan and a change of mind. The mind factors in spiritual things and gives rise to a new perspective . This is a mindset that makes a real difference. This is a mindset that matters!
Devotional Prayer: Lord, help me to change my mind to the things that really matter. Amen.
