July 14 - With Us Wherever We Go

By Rev. Marcus Devasahayam Thomas

Central Thought: God has promised to be with us.

Today's Scripture: 1 Chronicles 17:7-8

It is a long journey from being a shepherd to becoming a king, yet, David made precisely this journey. God saw the qualifications He was looking for and appointed him to succeed Saul as king. Now that God placed David upon Israel's throne, He gave David three key promises from this passage.

First, God declared, 'I have been with you wherever you have gone.” Second, He stated, 'I have cut off all your enemies from before you,” and finally, 'Now I will make your name like the names of the greatest men of the earth.” Together these promises show that it was God's plan for David's kingship to be successful. Also, God gave David everything he needed to be successful.

We also have a calling from God, and as with David, God has made promises to us to help us be successful. As we consider the promises God made to David, we can see that they encompass every major issue that David could have faced. God's promises to us help us in dealing with every major issue we can face. God will make us winners in life.

Devotional Prayer: Lord, help us to remember that You will always be with us.
