Today's Scripture: 1 Chronicles 15:11-15
Central Thought: God wants us to learn from the mistakes we have made.
Regret can be a powerful force. Some people give up on God because of the guilt and regret they carry. Others do not abandon their faith but do chose to carry the guilt causing them to lose their joy. Still others learn from their past, find forgiveness, and move forward with a renewed joy.
David learned a hard lesson the first time he attempted to move the ark to Jerusalem. Though he experienced guilt and shame, he learned from his errors. He prepared properly before bringing the ark back again. He had the Levites consecrated according to the Law so that they could carry the Ark in the way the Law instructed them to do. He was determined to learn from His past.
It would be great if we could say we had never done anything wrong, yet each of us can look back on things we wish we had not done. Since we cannot change the past, we must focus on learning from the past. We do not have to be destroyed by our past, but we can be made stronger by asking God to help us learn from our mistakes.
Devotional Prayer: Father, thank You for forgiving me and helping me learn from my past mistakes.
