Today's Scripture: Acts 27:21-26
Central Thought: God wants us to maintain our hope in Him even when our situation seems hopeless.
'Never, never, never give up.” These simple words once constituted an entire speech at a prestigious event. Winston Churchill, prime minister of Great Britain during World War 2, gave this famous short speech. Leading a nation through the devastating aerial attacks Great Britain endured taught him some important truths about not losing courage.
Paul shared this message with the crew and fellow prisoners on a ship threatened by a huge storm on the Mediterranean Sea. Many on board lost their hope, and the prison guards even decided to kill the prisoners to prevent them from escaping. Yet, God assured Paul of His protecting hand, and he was able to reassure the crew during this storm. Though the ship eventually broke up, everyone on board made it safely to shore.
Some of the storms of life we face may seem impossible to endure. Yet, in the middle of these storms, God speaks His promises of protection and hope. We CAN make it through the storms we face because we do not go through these storms alone. When we understand this, we can truly 'never, never, never, give up.”
Devotional Prayer: Help me to remember that no storm is beyond Your help.
