Today's Scripture: Acts 24:16
Central Thought: Be ready to share your faith.
It has been quite a few years since I graduated from high school, but I am still bothered by something a classmate penned in my yearbook. She complimented me and then wrote, 'I wish I could have what you have.” We had been in several classes together, and I had tried to live like a good Christian. However, when I read my yearbook, I realized I had failed to tell her, as Peter put it, the 'reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15). She knew I had something, but I had left her wondering what it was.
The apostle Paul wrote, 'So I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward both God and man” (Acts 24:16). What did he mean when he said he had 'a clear conscience”? Paul was purposeful in communicating Christ at every opportunity. Everyone that met Paul heard his testimony and knew of his personal encounter with Jesus Christ on the Damascus road. He never walked away from someone saying, 'I should have told him I was a Christian” or 'I should have offered to pray with her.” Twice he wrote in Acts 20, 'I did not shrink from declaring to you....” He lived his life to fulfill the ministry he had received from the Lord: 'to testify to the gospel of the grace of God” (v. 24).
Have you had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ? Have you experienced His grace at work in your life? I have, and I am determined to intentionally share my faith with those around me.
Devotional Prayer: Father, help me to boldly share with others the joy and victory You have given me. Give me courage and boldness when I am timid. Help me to let my light shine.
