Today's Scripture: Acts 19:11-20.
Central Thought: Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
There is an expression that says, 'if you play with fire, you will get burned.” If you respect fire and handle it properly, you can use it for good. However, if you do the opposite, you can cause destruction and bring tragedy.
God used His servant Paul to do 'extraordinary miracles.” People knew that when Paul was in the house that a man of God was present. The sick were healed, the diseased were cured, and the evil spirits were expelled.
Some tried to duplicate God's miracles through Paul by invoking Paul's words. They felt the words were a type of magic that when spoken would bring a change upon the one to whom they were speaking. But, the power was not from man but from God. They had some 'success” with this until one day the evil spirit rebelled and gave them the beating of their lives.
Spiritual matters are to be taken seriously. Seek to follow God wholeheartedly and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Then you will know that you are under the authority of God and that the results that come will honor Him.
Devotional Prayer: Dear Lord, I commit myself to following the leading of the Holy Spirit. I ask that Your will be done in my life.
