Central Thought: It's always wise to check with the Lord before following my own desires.
I didn't get the job, and I was discouraged. The interview seemed to go well, and I felt it was the right place to be. It surprised me when the call came and said I didn't make it. Thankfully, prior to the interview, I prayed about the position and asked the Lord to close the door to anything not in His will. This is one of the wisest things I can do. God alone knows the beginning from the end.
A lucrative position often seems the perfect answer when cash is tight. What I am not able to see is what will happen in the future. Many times I have been perplexed when a door didn't open on something I thought was a sure thing. Very often, after awhile, I have seen a company go under, or some other thing happen that would have been disastrous if I had taken that direction. In the case of this interview, I would have been saddled with a long-term job. Instead, after a few short months at a temporary job, I was able to quit working outside the home and begin my writing career.
I can trust God to lead me the right way, for He knows better than anyone what is best for me.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, You alone know the future. I leave my life in Your hands, trusting You to shut the wrong doors.
