Today's Scripture: I Samuel 14:6
Central Thought: God's protection covers me.
Once, my family talked me into riding a high-rise roller coaster. It was like flying with no fuselage for protection, no wings to uplift; the bar in my hands shuddered with speed; wind whipped my face; I braced for a crash.
Sometimes our day rushes by at terrific speed. Twisting for this turn of events and torqueing for that, we are eventually set down in a peaceful place—in the cup of the Father's hands.
Jonathan and his armor bearer not only took the ride but also eagerly volunteered for it together. Maybe Jonathan was being strictly honest when he said, 'Perhaps the Lord will act on our behalf.” It is easy to wonder if God will come through when we are in a pinch. However, Jonathan reminded himself, 'Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving …” (I Samuel 14:6).
Not only were they willing to fight on God's behalf, but they climbed to reach their quarry. They were outnumbered 20 to 2! Their faith in God won a great victory. They had no protection—only God.
In difficulties today, we have the same—only God. He will not fail to give us victory and settle us into a safe, quiet place.
Devotional Prayer: Lord, in today's struggles, I rely on You alone.
