May 8 - Live As A Free Man

By: Mark Flattery

Today's Scripture: Psalm 106

Central Thought: We are made free in Christ Jesus.

It is not difficult to see which team is winning and which team is losing in a sporting event, especially when one team has a huge lead. You just look at the body language of the losing team, and you will see who is facing imminent defeat. They stand condemned because they did not measure up to the competition.

Jesus said that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life and will not be condemned (John 5:24). When we enter into relationship with Him, we have 'crossed over from death to life.” We are no longer bound by the sins of the past or by the old nature. Instead, we are new creations in Christ and freed by His love to live the life God created us to live.

In Psalm 106 we see that those who love God will reap the rewards of a relationship with Him. We will be blessed, enjoy God's prosperity, share in His joy, and join in His inheritance. Just as God saved His children from the hands of their foes, He will save you in your hour of need and balance the scales of justice.

Do not accept the lies of this world! Stand tall in Christ for we are freed to walk with Him, according to His will and purposes. Believe His promises and sing His praises (Psalm 106:12). When we are at peace with God, we bring life to our bodies (Proverbs 14:30).

Devotional Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to throw off feelings of condemnation and to accept your love for me this day.
