Today's Scripture: Proverbs 14:25
Central Thought: We are people of truth.
Proverbs 14:25 says, 'A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful” (NIV). Just as telling the truth in a court of law is vital to the judicial process, truthfulness in one's relationship to God is vital. Today you will read about three examples of how honesty before God impacted people.
The Samaritan woman in John 4 was despised by women and used by men—but she had a truth encounter with Jesus, and He changed her life. Ruth was a widow who faced a bleak future—but she declared to be faithful to the True God and to put her life into His hands. This declaration ultimately saved her life.
The Children of Israel did not remain true in their walk with God and allowed their hearts to wander after pagan gods and pagan values. They experienced God's miracles and power firsthand, and yet they chose to walk away from God to fulfill their own destinies.
Psalm 105:1-15 teaches us how to be true in our relationship with God. Draw close to Him. Allow Him to be your source of strength, even in the face of life's difficulties. Be true to Him, and He will be true to you.
Devotional Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to be faithful and true as I walk with You through life's journey.
