Devotional Scripture: Psalm 29

Central Thought: The same power that God displays through creation is available to us.

David witnessed an incredible thunderstorm that prompted him to offer praise of God's power. Let's consider the shows of strength that David attributed to God's voice in Psalm 29. It broke great cedars. It rattled the mountains of Lebanon and Sirion. It splashed lightning across the sky. It shook the Desert of Kadesh. It twisted sturdy oaks. It stripped trees of their leaves. In the end, it left David with no doubt to God's power.

David portrayed strong pictures of God's strength that he witnessed that day. It must have been an intimidating display. Then consider that even our most capable re-creation of the images David described gives merely a hint to God's power. Then consider that the same God who uses nature to display His power wants to also use us to display His power. The same Source of that power, according to verse 11, 'gives strength to his people.”

Is your life one through which God's strength is revealed daily? Can others see in you an incredible display that prompts them to praise God's power? If not, allow Him to give that same strength to you.

Devotional Prayer: Lord, may I be an example of a life filled with your power and strength.
