January 26 - The Power of Trusting God

By Terrill Pearson

Today's Scripture: Psalm 22: 4-5

Central Thought: God will never leave you or forsake you.

Have you ever felt abandoned and all alone and, as a result, not sure whether to give in to circumstances or trust God to see you through? Life presents these opportunities almost daily. At times it seems as if God neither hears nor helps us when we are in trouble. The truth is, He does hear us when we pray, and He is ready to help us face our daily challenges. The secret is to trust Him and see His faithfulness.

That's what the psalmist did. In Psalm 22:4 he reminds God that when his fathers were in trouble, they trusted God, and He delivered them. They trusted…God faithfully came to their aid. Trusting God becomes easy when we learn to take our eyes off of the storm and focus on the One who calms the storm. The psalmist further relates that every time the people trusted in God, confusion left. While uncertainty about the future has been the perennial plague of mankind, God promises to remove confusion and provide direction to those who trust in Him. We truly may not know what tomorrow holds, but we can know the One who holds tomorrow.

When life leaves you feeling all alone, remember that God is there. Trust in Him to deliver you, to provide direction, and to meet your every need—because He is faithful. Learn the power of trusting God.

Devotional Prayer: Father, help me to trust you completely in every circumstance of life.
