Her talent and beauty had caught the eye of a Hollywood movie producer who offered her a role in an upcoming movie...
She's 19 and has launched a singing career. Her first single had made the charts and through this she had gained some fame in the music scene. She also happened to be a beautiful young lady...having been a runner-up in a beauty contest. Her talent and beauty had caught the eye of a Hollywood movie producer who offered her a role in an upcoming movie.
She carefully read the script of the proposed role and discovered her role called for a number of scenes of immorality. She quickly lost interest and refused the offer.
Her business manager pleaded, "Don't be foolish! Can't you see; this is the crossroad in your professional life? Pass up this picture and you've lost your big chance. Go ahead with it and your career will really take off! You'll have every thing you want!"
She replied, "Yes...everything but my self-respect and peace of mind."
Choices...the choice between what would be acceptable and even desired in the eyes of world and what is acceptable to God and a Christian are not always easy to make. Pride, goals, greed or desire too often can blind us to any dangers involved in choices we make. On one side may be the glamour or material gain and on the other is the right, honest and positive thing to do. It's not always easy or cut and dried.
How do we make the right choices that are pleasing to God and to a young Christian? First begin with a knowledge of the written Word of GOD. What does the Bible have to say about this particular choice? Then...as we apply these standards to our choices...we discover the reward of peace and the knowledge of right living.
"Trust in the Lord and do good...delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the stars" (Psalm 37:4-6).
