What Are You Collecting In Life?

Do you know of any of your friends who happen to be "collectors?" It could be a collection of bottle caps, DVDs, movie posters, posters of sports heroes, and the list goes on almost endlessly.

But I want to challenge you to begin collecting "life principles." "Life principles," you may be thinking? Yes, you heard me right...LIFE PRINCIPLES!

According to Bobb Biehl, "Principles are mini-statements of cause and effect. Collect principles because they help explain why things do or do not work." Interesting!

How old you have to be to be a collector of life principles? Never too young or never too old, so teens are included.

How do you get started? It's as simple as a notebook and a pencil. Write down all the principles you already know. What have you learned from parents, friends, relatives, books, professors, TV and so on. There are a whole lot of wise things that are "out there" if you begin to look for them.

Here are some examples of life principles: "One of the realities of life is that if you can't trust a person at all points, you can't truly trust him or her at any point." (Cheryl Biehl) "Take a shower a day...or friends and dates stay away!" "Before you trust a man or his message, study his life."

Are you getting the idea? Here's another example from Peter Drucker: "Once the facts are clear, the decisions jump out at you!"

Awesome! What a fabulous concept for living! I only wish I had come across this idea when I had been a teen? PRINCIPLES TO LIVE BY...GO FOR IT!

"Here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man" (Ecclesiastes 12:13)!
