Study #7. Baptism Into Suffering.

Mark 10:38                His Baptism.

The distinguishing feature of the Man Christ Jesus, is that of suffering. He spoke of this as a baptism. (Matt. 4:1)

John  1:5                      Just as light has to be plunged into darkness to dispel it, so Christ was steeped in suffering, to be the Light of the World.

1 Pet. 1:11                   The Spirit of Christ testified beforehand that this would happen; the Old Testament is full of such prophecies. (Isa. 53:3)

Hebrews 2:10               ‘As the Captain of our Salvation, He was made perfect, (that is, should bring to maturity, the human experience                                    necessary for a perfect equipment for His office as High Priest) through Suffering’. – Amplified New Testament.

1 John 4:17                 Our Baptism.

                                    ‘As He is, so are we in this World’.

Mark 10:38                  ‘With this Baptism shall ye be baptized’.

Galatians 4:29               It is the World that baptizes the Believer in Suffering.

Acts 14:1-2                   Unbelievers still stir up others against Christians today. You are not out of the will of God because you are Persecuted!

2 Tim. 3:12                  All will suffer persecution, some more, some less, the principle remains and will till Jesus comes.

Matt. 16:24-25             The Cross is our reproach for being a Christian. Not the ornament around your neck, or sickness in your body, or our                              Kids,or the neighbor’s stereo.

                                            Only the suffering that comes as a result of our Christian life and testimony is our true     Cross.

                                    John Ashcroft, in the election, lost the Governor’s race but was

                                    appointed Attorney General, and was vilified by the forces that

                                    embraced ungodly standards. That was a baptism of suffering, and

                                    he reacted graciously and firmly as a Christian gentleman.
