First Principles - Study 1

Study # 1. Introduction to the First Principles

To give you a birds-eye view of the First Principles, explain the starting point of all Christian teaching, and to show you why it is important that you know and feed, upon the Word of God.

1 Peter 2:2-5 Spiritual Growth depends upon correct diet, the Sincere Milk of the Word.

Kwashiorkor is a disease in which the stomach is full and distended, but no nutrition is in the food eaten.

This comes from an incorrect diet.  Correct nutrition results in healthy growth to ultimate maturity.

Hebrews 5:12-14 We have to first start with Milk, then proceed to Meat.

The Milk of the Word is called the “first principles of the oracles (word) of God.”

Once you have thoroughly grasped these first seven principles you will have a “value system” from which to understand the     more intricate areas of the Bible.

1 Corinthians 3:2 Paul fed his new converts with the Milk of the Word, realizing that some older Christians need to go back and feed again upon these principles. Verse 10 Shows that you need a good foundation, in order to build well for God.

Hebrews 6:1-3 Here are the Principles listed. They are Seven in number. The last is shown first in the Scripture by reason of the context of the passage. They are in a specific logical order, and summarize the teachings of Jesus.

                                  1) Repentance from Dead Works

                                  2) Faith towards God.

                                  3) Baptisms. (plural).

                                  4) The Laying on of Hands.

                                  5) The Resurrection of the Dead.

                                  6) Eternal Judgment.

                                   7) Going on unto Perfection (Maturity).

Note

First, the Order of these is intentional and unchangeable.

Second, Baptisms is in the Plural in the original.

These teachings are all clearly “Milk” suitable for all, and important for the new Believer who has just come to believe in Jesus.

Every Christian should be ready to teach a new Christian these principles.

1 Timothy 4:16 Paul told Timothy to take heed to HIMSELF and to the DOCTRINE.

Does your belief agree with what the Bible says? Does your life-style agree with what you believe?
