Healing at Tannalu Village, Vanuatu

When Shirley and I were missionaries in Vanuatu, a small island country in the South Pacific, we saw God perform many miracles in the villages where we ministered. One such miracle was in the village of Tannalu on the West side of the main island of Efate.

Many people in the village had been saved through the ministry of a missionary evangelist. On this Sunday morning, I spoke to them about the power of God to heal and perform miracles. After the morning service, I was put to the test. The chief's son asked if I would pray for his sister who had contracted dengue fever. She had visited the medical clinic, but her condition was getting worse. Dengue fever is a mosquito borne illness that causes several deaths a year in the Pacific islands. It is characterized by fever, intense headaches, and often rashes. This young girl was very sick.

Vanuatu is a tropical island chain near the equator. It is very hot and humid in this part of the world, yet this girl was sitting on a chair shaking with chills and covered with a blanket.

As I entered her house, I felt the presence of God in such a way that my hands shook and I could hardly speak. When I touched her and began to pray, she was healed. We believe this was the first testimony to this village of God's power to heal and minister to them supernaturally.

God still heals today, yet many believers have never seen a miracle or a healing, let alone experienced one for themselves. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His power never fades or grows weak.
